Interested in mapping bicycle parking. Involved with the BikeSpace project run by a volunteer group at Civic Tech Toronto.

1. Use of "quantity" tag
Previous editors in Toronto have somewhat uniquely (in the NA/global context) used the "quantity" tag for bicycle parking that consists of multiple entities, e.g. a cluster of several ring and posts (bollards). I have similarly used this, especially when entering ring and post clusters.
2. City of Toronto open data IDs
The City of Toronto has several open data sources for bicycle parking, though my experience from surveying is that some are not entirely reliable or up to date. There are also some duplicate entries across different datasets. Where I have been able to match an OSM entry with a relevant dataset, I have entered the ID in one of the following formats depending on the ID used by the CKAN API:
ref:open.toronto.ca:street-furniture-bicycle-parking:id
ref:open.toronto.ca:bicycle-parking-high-capacity-outdoor:id
ref:open.toronto.ca:bicycle-parking-racks:objectid
ref:open.toronto.ca:bicycle-parking-bike-stations-indoor:id
The purpose of adding these "ref" tags is to help track features that relate to City data that have been surveyed as well as to combine City and OSM data in external applications with duplicates removed. I was inspired by the ref tags used by Transport for London in the UK and the Seattle Department of Transportation.
Bicycle Parking nodes which are operated by the City of Toronto but not included in any of the open datasets noted above are tagged with ref:open.toronto.ca=no
